MARYLAND: For decades, a man with a disability who has lost the sense of his arms was fit-ted with two robotic arms and connected directly to the human brain. “The Machine Arm is directly connected to the Brain, able to eat with Disabilities”

Scientists at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland, have been treating a

person who has been deprive-d of the sense of hands and fingers for 30 years. Delivered and made edible.

In this work he has done it for more than 90 seconds.

The Machine Arm

It should be note-d that the patient kept thinking and moving the robot arm accordingly, the details of which have been publish-ed in Frontiers in Neurobiotics.

The system included a brain-machine algorithm and two robotic arms.

The electrical signal from the brain was convert-ed into the first command, which was transmitt-ed to the robotic arm.

The invention involves 15 years of research in key areas such as neuroscience, robotics, software, and algorithms.

It was fund-ed by the US Defense Research Organization (DARPA), which has come up with new research on

the combination of brain and machine, which is commonly call-ed the ‘brain-machine interface’.

According to experts, the most important use of this technology is to help people with disabilities, which is

also a long-held dream.

However, the next step is to make people with disabilities feel the touch, for which modern and sensitive

sensors are being develope.
