California: Meta’s subsidiary WhatsApp has issued a warning to users after some fake versions of the app came to light, advising users not to download fake versions of WhatsApp to avoid getting into trouble. “WhatsApp warns users to avoid its Suspicious Clones”

According to sources, WhatsApp’s cyber security team has come across such suspicious applications that provide services similar to WhatsApp.

These software are available for download outside of Google Play. These software include ‘Hey WhatsApp’ and ‘Hey Mod’ and other clones.

These fake versions of the app are trying to mislead users by pretending to be the real WhatsApp application. That’s why Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp, has warned users not to download these fake applications to their phones to avoid any security breach.

CEO WhatsApp said in his tweet that WhatsApp’s cyber security team has found malware hidden in applications created by ‘HeyMods’.

Will Cathcart praised Google for taking steps to prevent the spread of malicious applications on Android devices.
