The Army Chief said that today I want to talk about a topic that people usually avoid talking about. This topic is related to the performance of our army in former East Pakistan in 1971. I want to correct some facts in this regard.

He said that the number of fighting soldiers was not 92 thousand but only 34 thousand. 34 thousand people were against 2.5 lakh Indian army and 2 lakh Trend Mukti Bahini.

At the time when the East Pakistan tragedy happened, the Army Chief was General Yahya Khan. Who was also the President of Pakistan. The East Pakistan tragedy happened after the 1970 elections when Sheikh Mujib got 160 seats and Bhutto got 80 seats, after which a power struggle arose. It happened because Bhutto claimed that he got majority from 4 provinces while Sheikh Mujib got majority from East Pakistan only.

General Yahya Khan supported Bhutto, after which the country fell into disarray, India took advantage of it to start a war with Pakistan, but General Yahya was drowned in alcohol and Shabab parties and East Pakistan separated and became Bangladesh.
