The Lahore High Court annulled the election of Hamza Shahbaz as Punjab Chief Minister and ordered re-election of a new Chief Minister tomorrow. “Election of Hamza Shahbaz as Punjab Chief Minister declared Null and Void”

According to Express News, PTI and PML-Q leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi had filed

petitions against the election of Hamza Shahbaz as Punjab Chief Minister, which were accepted by the Lahore High Court.

The Lahore High Court, while ruling on the petition against Hamza Shahbaz, declared his election as Punjab Chief Minister null and void.

The decision was taken by a five-member larger bench headed by Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan on the appeal of PTI and others by a four-to-one majority.

Speaking outside the court after the verdict, the lawyers said that when the election itself would be annulled

and the Chief Minister would be re-elect, Hamza Shahbaz would not remain the Chief Minister.

Legal experts say that Hamza Shahbaz is no longer the Chief Minister of Punjab and his cabinet has also been dissolve.

So the election for the new Chief Minister of Punjab will be hold again.

Written decision of Lahore High Court issued

The Lahore High Court issued a written decision on the petitions.

The court annulled the decision of Hamza Shahbaz to take oath on April 16. The court also quashed the

Deputy Speaker’s letter regarding the election of the Governor.

The court’s decision consists of 8 pages in which the court also annulled the notification of Hamza Shahbaz

being elect as the Chief Minister.

The court decision said that from today the decisions of Hamza Shahbaz and his cabinet will be ineffective,

He is no longer the Chief Minister of Punjab and his cabinet has also been dissolve.

The re-election of the Chief Minister will take place tomorrow at 4 pm in which it will be decide who will be

the new Chief Minister.

The court decision said that all the steps taken by Hamza Shahbaz and the cabinet from April 30 to date in

the interest of the province and the public would not have any effect.

The decision said that the Governor Punjab should convene a meeting on July 1 at 4 pm in which the votes

should be recount.

All institutions should abide by the court orders, tomorrow’s meeting will not be adjourn without

completing the process of selection of Chief Minister.

The court said in a written decision that the Governor of Punjab would discharge his duties under Article 130

(5) of the Constitution.

The Governor will be bou-nd to take oath from the election process by 11 a.m. the next day.

The decision was take-n by a five-member larger bench comprising Justice Sajid Mahmood Sethi.

Justice Sajid Mahmood decided to reinstate Usman Bazdar as acting Chief Minister.

On the other hand, the PML-N seems to be confident despite the verdict against it. PML-N claims that our numbers are complete and tomorrow Hamza Shahbaz will be elect Punjab Chief Minister again.
