PML-N reached the Court to stop the Local Body Elections in Islamabad

The Muslim League-N filed a request to stop the local body elections to be held in the federal capital on December 31. An application was file in the Islamabad High Court by Shahzad Aurangzeb. It has been argue in the petition that the number of union councils has been increase by the federal government. After which the number of union councils has increased from 101 to 125.

The position of the petitioner is that the Election Commission should be restrain from conducting the election as per Koprani voters list. The notification of the Election Commission was to the extent of 101 Union Councils.

The petition further states that these 101 union councils have ceased to exist. The federal government has also proposed amendments to the Local Government Act.

On the other hand, PTI’s Ali Nawaz Awan has also filed a contempt of court petition against the government.

It was saiid in the petition that the High Court had already givens a decision on the issue of Union Councils. The High Court had stopped the increase of more Union Councils. The court was insult by increasing the number of Union Councils.

In the petition of Ali Nawaz Awan. It has been demand that contempt of court action be takens against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others.

It should be note that yesterday in the statement released by the Election Commission, it was saids that the local body elections in Islamabad will be helds on December 31.
